What is Intraoral Massage?
An intraoral massage is a massage that focuses on the muscles both inside and outside of the mouth and jaw. This is a treatment targeted towards people who are experiencing headaches, jaw tension, and TMJ disorder.
The Massage Itself
Before you begin your session your therapist will ask about your treatment goals and any discomfort that you are currently experiencing. Your therapist will use disposable medical gloves while working inside of your mouth. The massage will focus on releasing tension in the muscles involved in moving and clenching your jaw, as well as other muscles around your face and neck.
Your feedback during the massage is very important! Please let your therapist know about any discomfort and how you are feeling as the massage progresses.
Benefits of Intraoral Massage
An intraoral massage can help reduce headaches and the discomfort associated with jaw tension, migraines, grinding teeth, injuries and strains, accidents, and TMJ (temporomandibular joint) disorder.
